A Bulgarian company is to start assembling Skyleader 600, a variant of a two-seat civil utility plane produced Czech manufacturer Jihlavan Airplanes, near the capital Sofia.
The vehicle's cost will range between EUR 95 000 and 160 000, depending on whether it will have an analog or digital control system, Aleksandar Minkov, a representative of the company Aircraft Construction Service Ltd., which is to assemble Skyleader 600, said at a Thursday presentation.
Production here will be carried out at the site of Terem Letetz - Sofia, a military plant that hasn't been defunct for nearly a decade, Minkov told private national bTV station.
According to him, the company has a license to assemble and sell Skyleader 600 in Bulgaria, Greece, Romania and Poland.
The two-seat civil utility plane uses gasoline A-95 and can reach a maximum speed of 265 km/h. On a full tank Skyleader 600 can fly up to 8.5 hours.
Its website says it is mainly designated for "recreational flying, pilot training and special operations" and also that it "can be customized" based on individual requirements.
A query in Bulgaria's Commercial Register shows Aircraft Construction Service was set up in April 2014.
