Bulgarian hypermarket chain for baby and children’s goods Hippoland begins its overseas expansion, with a store set to open in Romania’s Bucharest on August 1.

The Bucharest-based store, located in the Auchan commercial center in the Drumul Taberei district, spans an area of over 1400 square meters.

The store, which will function under a franchise partnership, will be the largest one in Bucharest specialized in selling goods for children aged 0-12 years.

The Bucharest-based store absorbed an investment of around EUR 700 000, according to a media statement of the company.

The investment plans of the company envisage a swift expansion in Romania, with new stores to be launched in 2 other large cities in the country by end-2015 or in 2016.

Apart from Romania, Hippoland is in talks for setting foot on other European markets, including Hungary, Greece, Germany, and Macedonia.

The company seeks to enter at least one other market in 2016 together with increasing its presence in Romania, according to a press release, as cited by money.bg.
