Turkey will take all measures necessary to stem threats targeting its borders, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said on Friday.

"All precautions will surely be taken without further order if any terrorist organization or others approach the borders of the Turkish Republic in a threatening way," Davutoglu told reporters in Ankara, according to Turkey’s Anadolu news agency.

Davutoglu spoke after Turkish Air Force F-16 jets hit Islamic State targets in neighbouring Syria early on Friday.

The airstrikes came a day after a firefight with Islamic State militants across the border with Syria left one Turkish non-commisioned officer dead and two army sergeants wounded.
