Initial findings suggest that Islamic State (IS) group is behind Monday’s blast in the southeastern Turkish town of Suruc that killed at least 30 people,  Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has said.

“This is a terrorist attack by a suicide bomber. The target of this attack is Turkey,” todayszaman.com quoted Davutoglu as saying at a news conference on Monday.

Initial findings point to a suicide bomb attack and Islamic State, he added.

Davutoglu called on all political parties in Turkey to adopt a joint stance in the face of the attack.

According to police, more than 100 people were injured in the explosion that occurred outside a culture center in Suruc where university students had gathered to prepare a mission to help residents of the Syrian town of Kobane lying opposite Suruc just across the border.

Kobane has become a symbol of resistance against the IS fighters who were were driven out of the town by Kurdish rebels backed by US-led air strikes in January after four months of fierce fighting.
