Bulgaria has suffered losses amounting to EUR 80 M due to the restrictions, which Russia has imposed on exports of agricultural production from Bulgaria.
This was announced by Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov in the town of Malko Tarnovo on Saturday, Darik radio reports.
Borisov said that Bulgaria was investing huge efforts in the absorption of EU funds and all operational programmes were functional.
The prime minister assured that at the forthcoming meeting of the European Council on Sunday, he will raise the issue of the losses suffered due to the sanctions imposed by the EU and the counter-sanctions implemented by Russia.
In his words, agricultural producers were suffering huge losses and he posed the question whether there will be no rescue plan for the losses incurred by the sanctions.
Borisov was particularly concerned that the EU increasingly spent the money of European taxpayers on the frequent travel of EU leaders to Brussels in order to deal with the Greek issue.
He revealed that there was still no decision on a rescue plan for Greece, which would be discussed at the forthcoming meeting of eurozone finance ministers on Saturday and the summit of EU leaders on Sunday.
According to him, the necessary measures have been taken for Greek banks operating in Bulgaria and the EU will assist Bulgaria in case the need arises.
He reminded to Bulgarians supporting the stance of the Greek government that when it came to power, Athens imposed 26 % tax on Greek firms working with Bulgaria.
