The Bulgarian women's national volleyball team achieved a victory in the opening round of Group 2's Pool M of the FIVB World Grand Prix.

Bulgaria defeated Croatia 3-2 (25-18, 23-25, 21-25, 25-22, 15-12) on Friday and at present occupies the first place in Pool M.

Eva Yaneva scored 19 points for Bulgaria, while her fellow nationals Mira Todorova and Yuliya Stoyanova added 15 points each.

In its next two matches on Saturday and Sunday, Bulgaria will respectively face the Czech Republi and Puerto Rico.

The Bulgarian town of Samokov hosts the matches from Pool M, with the venue being Arena Samokov.
