Winter Tourism: 1.8 Million Visit Bulgaria
Bulgaria has witnessed a bustling winter tourism season, with a total of 1.8 million tourists gracing its picturesque landscapes from December 1 to March 25
Bulgaria will be more active in its solidarity towards compatriots n Ukraine, Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev stated following his talks with representatives of the Bulgarian community.
Bulgarian universities will be more open to Bulgarians coming from Ukraine and more funding will provided for scholarships.
Bulgarians from the Ukrainian capital, Harkiv, Bolgrad and other regions have been invited to a meeting with the head of state. Plevneliev noted that Bulgaria is currently financing a project on supplying computer equipment to a Bolgograd high school. The President is looking for means of supplying funding through EU mechanisms that will further develop businesses and regions.
''We would like for you to feel that Bulgaria is on your side and is open to you,'' stated Rosen Plevneliev. The President noted that work permit procedures need to be simplified, especially as Bulgaria needs well educated workers for a number of business sectors.
''Bulgaria can serve as an example for countries like Ukraine that are still moving in the direction of brave reforms and European development,'' he added. The President added that Bulgaria is opposing the illegal annexation of territories and destabilization of the region.
During his second day of visit to Ukraine, Plevneliev will lay flowers at the monuments of Petko Voyvoda and St St Cyril and Methodius.
