Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak on Tuesday said his Bulgarian colleagues haven't changed their mind about withdrawing from the Burgas-Alexandroupolis pipeline project.

Last week, while many state officials from Southeast Europe were in Saint Petersburg for the SPIEF international economic forum, Novak and Greek counterpart Panagiotis Lafazanis said they would try to bring the project back to life.

Bulgaria quit Burgas-Alexandroupolis in 2012, thus putting to an end the Russia-Greece oil pipeline project it which it had been a key transit country.

On Friday the subject was broached in talks between Novak and Bulgaria's Energy Minister Temenuzka Petkova, who explained Sofia had not changed her mind about the abandoned pipeline.
