Iliya Nalbantov, who has worked as Chief of Staff with the Defense Minister in the past year, has been dismissed, reports suggest.

No reasons have yet been pointed, according to BGNES news agency.

Nalbantov, who had taken the office under interim Defense Minister Velizar Shalamanov in August-November 2014 (after the then elected government stepped down), was dismissed Friday afternoon, the agency says.

His successor is yet to be announced.

Minister Nikolay Nenchev has embarked on a vast reshuffles program at his institution, including in the ranks of military intelligence service which he says is not compatible with NATO counterparts.

The Defense Ministry's Parliamentary secretary is also to leave duty early in July, but will be offered another position within the institution, daily Pressa says.
