Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has now officially accepted the resignation of the government led by Prime Minister Ahmet Davtoglu, RT reported.

“The president thanked the government for its work to date, President's press office stated, as reported by TASS information agency. '' The cabinet will continue working until the new government is put together.”

The announcement was made mere days following the Turkey's Parliamentary elections. Erdogan's Justice and Development Party (AKP) lost the majority of seats for the first time in twelve years.

Kurdish-based Republican People's Party (CHP) has gained approximately 25% of the vote and will be taking 130 seats in the Turkish Parliament for the very first time in its history. The final results of the election will be announced 12 days after the Sunday vote.

The official swearing-in ceremony for the new Parliament is scheduled for June 25. In case the represented parties do not reach a coalition agreement, President Erdogan will have the power to call another round of elections.
