Wolfowitz Outlines "Key Turkey Role"

US Deputy Defence Secretary Paul Wolfowitz says he has had "very constructive" talks with the new Turkish Government during a visit to secure Ankara's backing in the crisis between the US and Iraq. Turkey - which has been opposed to military intervention in Iraq - could be the key to disarming Baghdad in line with UN resolutions, Mr Wolfowitz said. His meeting with Prime Minister Abdullah Gul was the first high-level contact between Washington and Ankara since the AK party, which has strong Islamic roots, came to power in November.
