A tiny peninsula (140, 000 square meters) will be constructed in Istanbul's luxury coastal neighborhood Atakoy. The purpose of the project is for more space to be available for luxury residence and business buildings.

The size of the peninsula will be approximately the same as that of ten football fields, and will be named ''Mega Marina''. It will serve as an extension of one of Turkey's richest neighborhoods, where residential buildings and shopping malls are booming right now, local newspaper Hurriyet reports.

The high interest in the coastal area and the lack of available construction spots has been quoted as the main reason behind the unconventional decision.

A conference hall, congress centers, restaurants, night clubs, a shopping mall, parking for over 320 cars as well as several swimming pools will all be constructed as a part of the ''Mega Marina'' project.
