Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico presented Tuesday in Moscow a gas pipeline project involving Bulgaria, Romania, and Hungary.

Fico presented to his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev a new option for delivering Russian gas to Central and Eastern Europe, according to reports of the TASS news agency,

The gas pipeline project, which is to be connected to the Turkish Stream gas pipeline, is to cross Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, and Slovakia.

The new gas pipeline project is to be implemented with the support and participation of the EU, according to Fico.

Fico made clear that Slovakia was actively seeking alternative gas routes as it was aware that Russia would stop gas transit via Ukraine in 2020.
