Today's Quote: Ivaylo Kalfin
''Demolishing illegal residential buildings will not solve the problem in Garmen, because the forest will then get filled with rejected, prosecuted and hungry homeless people,'' stated Bulgarian Labor Minister on account of the rising tensions in the southern village of Garmen that arose between local population and illegal residents of Roma origin.
''Because they will be concerned with their own survival, they can easily become a threat to all people in the municipality,'' added Kalfin in his social media profile. '' Using measures of the sort, we will not be able to achieve a long-term positive effect. ''
In his opinion the only long-term solution can be achieved through uncompromisingly fighting against poverty that affects both employed and unemployed people of all ethnic groups.
Apart from the projected increase in the minimum wage already proposed by the Minister, the necessary measures also involve just taxation, working economy and efficient administration.
