Popovi Livadi became the newest village in Bulgaria after the government took the decision for its establishment at its regular meeting on Wednesday.

The village is located on the territory of the Gotse Delchev municipality and will be situated in the locality Popovi Livadi, which was declared a mountain climate resort in 1967.

The municipal council of Gotse Delchev took the decision for making the administrative-territorial change on 31 July 2014, the government's press service reports.

The decision was justified as the required conditions - permanently residing population and available social infrastructure, were fulfilled.

Following its change of statute and its designation as settlement, the municipality will be able to apply for EU funding during the 2014-2020 programme period with projects for improvement of living conditions.
