Bulgaria: Bulgarian Vessel Taking Part in Romanian Naval Drill

Romania has started a massive military drill in the Black Sea involving a sea dredger from Bulgaria and a US destroyer, local media outlets report.

The exercises, which involve about 1500 troops and 12 ships from Romania, are aimed at boosting interoperability among NATO forces and adapting Romania's inter-agency cooperation to present-day challenges, a statement by the country's Naval Forces, quoted by Romania Insider, reads.

This is the second time USS Ross, an American destroyer has entered the Black Sea basin in the past 12 months.

The Trident Poseidon 2015 exercise will continue between May 25 and May 28. On Wednesday, May 27, it will include the evacuation of non-combatants from a conflict area.
