A charitable exhibition will be opened at Sofia's National Palace of Culture on May 26 and will continue through to June 7. The event has been organized under the patronage of UNICEF Bulgaria with the purpose of raising funds for the assistance of the children of Nepal.

The photographs featured depict Nepal before and after the devastating earthquake. All funds raised will be used to restore the lives of the children.

Reportedly more than 1.7 million children are still in need of aid to survive both physically and emotionally. Close to 15, 000 children from the 14 most severely affected regions are still in need of specialized food to fight malnutrition, and 55,000 more need supplements to overcome problems in growth and physical development.

Meanwhile, additional BGN 155,000 have already been raised through the donation campaign organized by the UN Children Fund and its media partners. Contributions are still collected through sending of text messages to the short number 1021.

So far funds were used to assist in providing food, water, medications, education and protection of the children during the period of restoration.

The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry also contributed to the campaign by donating USD 40,000 for the global humanitarian action.
