Bulgarian authorities detained three migrant traffickers from Algeria, Iran and Iraq in Sofia on Friday.
They are suspected of organising the illegal transfer of immigrants from Afghanistan, Pakistan and the Middle East to Western Europe via the territories of Turkey, Bulgaria and Serbia.
They were detained in a joint operation of the State Agency for National Security (DANS), the Sofia Directorate of the Interior Ministry and the ministry's Migration Directorate.
This was a continuation of the specialised operation of DANS and the Interior Ministry against a network of human trafficking, which was held on Wednesday.
The three traffickers detained on Friday resided in Bulgaria using their application for a refugee status as an excuse, the website of DANS informs.
They will be deprived of the right to reside in Bulgaria, deported and will be imposed a five-year ban to enter the country.
The operation on Wednesday resulted in the detention of sixty illegal immigrants with two organisers of human trafficking among them.
The joint activities of DANS and the Interior Ministry on countering the illegal migration will continue.
