Iraq "Tried to Break Weapons Embargo"

United Nations arms inspectors say Iraq has admitted trying to illegally import aluminium tubing to help build weapons. But the Iraqis say they tried to obtain the piping for use in conventional arms, and not nuclear weapons as the United States and Britain allege. Analysts say it appears to be the first time since weapons inspections resumed that Iraq has admitted attempting to break arms sanctions. UN arms inspectors have swooped on one of Iraqi president Saddam Hussein's palaces in Baghdad. Iraq's deadline to declare all weapons of mass destruction to the UN Security Council expires next Sunday.
