Bulgarian Exports to EU, Third Countries Increased in Beginning of 2015

According to preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute (NSI), Bulgarian exports to the EU increased by 12.2 % between January and February 2015 compared to the same period in 2014.

Bulgarian exports to the EU amounted to BGN 4.5 B, the country's main trading partners being Germany, Italy, Romania, Greece, Belgium and France, constituting 69.5 % of exports to the EU.

In February, Bulgarian exports to the EU increased by 7.7 % compared to the same month in 2014, amounting to BGN 2.2 B.

Bulgarian imports from the EU between January and February 2015 increased by 3.3 % compared to the same period in 2014, amounting to BGN 5 B.

In February, Bulgarian imports from the EU increased by 6.5 % compared to the same month a year ago, amounting to BGN 2.6 B.

Bulgaria's trade balance with EU member states in the first two months of 2015 was negative BGN 504.2 M.

Bulgaria exported more unprocessed (raw) materials, mineral fuels, oils and similar products to the EU, while there was drop in the exports of soft and alcohol drinks and tobacco.

As regards Bulgarian imports from the EU, the largest growth was registered in the sectors of soft and alcohol drinks and tobacco, while less mineral fuels, oils and similar products were imported.

In the period between January and March 2015, Bulgarian exports to third countries increased by 14.3 % compared to the same period in 2014, amounting to BGN 3.9 B.

Bulgaria's main trading partners were Turkey, China, Serbia, the USA, Singapore and Russia, constituting 51.7 % of the exports to third countries.

In March, Bulgarian exports to third countries increased by 46.8 % compared to the same month in 2014, amounting to BGN 1.502 B.

Bulgarian imports from third countries amounted to BGN 4.5 B in the first quarter of 2015, increasing by 2.1 % compared to the same period in 2014.

In March, Bulgarian imports from third countries increased by 7.2 %, amounting to BGN 1.545 B.

Bulgaria's trade balance with third countries in the first quarter of 2015 was negative BGN 638.3 M, while that for March was minus BGN 43.5 M.

Bulgarian exports to third countries registered growth in the sectors of fats, oils and waxes from animal and plant origin, while there was drop in the exports of mineral fuels, oils and similar products.

Bulgarian imports from third countries registered growth in the sectors of foods and live animals and unprocessed (raw) materials, while less soft and alcohol drinks and tobacco were imported.
