Bulgarian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Betina Zhoteva has said she is unableto confirm reports that the crew of Maersk Tigris container ship has been set free.

Maersk Tigris was impounded by Iranian authorities over what they maintain is a commercial dispute.

The captain of Maersk Tigris is a Bulgarian national, but there are also people from Poland, Romania, Ukraine, the UK, Myanmar and Sri Lanka on board.

On Wednesday, Iranian officials said the crew were not anyhow related to the trade dispute and therefore had been released.
