Bulgaria: Bulgaria’s Kozloduy NPP Reports Profit of BGN 63.3 M for Q1, 2015

Bulgaria’s Kozloduy nuclear power plant has reported a profit of BGN 63.3 M for the first quarter of 2015, according to an analysis of the company’s activity and financial condition in the first three months of the year.

The profit of Kozloduy NPP registered a slight decrease from Q1, 2014, when it stood at BGN 64 M, according to the report, as cited by econ.bg.

The revenues of the N-plant amounted to nearly BGN 228 M, up by BGN 3.7 M from the same period of 2014.

The increase in revenues was due to the increase in sales of electricity on the free market by BGN 33.3 M, or 24.48%.

Sales of electricity on the free market increased by 340 000 MWh.

At the same time, the average price of electricity on the free market went up by 6.43%, reaching BGN 72.29/MWh in Q1, 2015, compared to BGN 67.92/MWh in Q1, 2014.

Total revenues from sales of electricity in Q1, 2015 stood at BGN 259.7 M, up by BGN 46.8 M from the same period of 2014.

The Kozloduy NPP also registered a substantial decrease in revenues from sales of electricity to the National Electric Company (NEK).

Revenues from sales of electricity to NEK fell by nearly BGN 28 M, or 33.2%.

The total amount of electricity sold to NEK by the Kozloduy NPP fell by nearly 293 000 MWh.

The other reason was that Bulgaria’s Commission for Energy and Water Regulation (KEVR) reduced the availability price of the plant from BGN 22.11 MWh to BGN 13.73 MWh in the current regulatory period.

At the same time the expenditure of the N-plant increased by over BGN 5.4 M to BGN 164.3 M from Q1, 2014.
