A brawl involving drunken students in the Ukrainian city of Odessa has ended in four people being injured after a Bulgarian opened fire on his colleagues, a Ukrainian news website reports.

According to 368.media, a Russian-language outlet, a scandal broke between two groups of students  at the Odessa I.I. Melchikov National University.

Reportedly, students from Azerbaijan started to beat their Bulgarian colleague. He then took out a pistol and opened fire.

Three of the attackers are in hospital, the website quotes police officials as saying.

The Bulgarian told authorities he had taken a gun with him when going to study in Odessa because he had heard stories of increased criminal activity in Ukraine's third-largest city.
