Bulgaria's Economy Grows by 1.8% in 2023
The National Statistical Institute (NSI) has released preliminary data revealing that Bulgaria's gross domestic product (GDP) experienced a modest growth of 1.8% in real terms in 2023
In 2014 a total of 118 workplace deaths were registered and 2807 people were injured in occupational accidents in Bulgaria, according to data provided by the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB).
CITUB published statistics Monday to mark the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, April 28, according to dnevnik.bg.
A total of 2359 of the workplace injuries happened at the workplace and 448 while the employees were on their way to work or back from work.

In 2014 a total of 132 419 business days were lost due to workplace accidents.
According to data of the National Statistical Institute (NSI), a total of 60 708 occupational accidents occurred in the period 2000-2014, causing the death of 1952 workers.
The largest numbers of occupational accidents in 2014 were registered in the spheres of general government (173) land transport (169) retail (149) and metal ore mining (105).
The largest numbers of occupational accidents in 2014 were registered in Sofia city (905), Plovdiv (273), and Varna (233), while the lowest figures were registered in Razgrad (22), Yambol (18), and Vidin (4), where the employment rate is at its lowest.
In 2014 a total of 52 543 inspections were conducted at 41 975 companies, with 114 135 violations of working conditions registered, up by 12 190 from 2013.
Globally, an estimated 2.3 million people die every year from work-related accidents and diseases, according to data of the International Labor Organization.
On average, more than 6300 work-related deaths occur every day, with 5500 of the total caused by various types of work-related diseases.
More than 160 million people suffer from occupational and work-related diseases, and there are 313 million non-fatal accidents per year.
