UNESCO's Director-General and UN Secretary-General Irina Bokova and Ban Ki-moon will be travelling to Moscow to attend the Victory Parade on May 9, as announced by TASS news agency.

The statement was made by Russia's Foreign Ministry. In the beginning of April, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that twenty five country leaders and representatives of international organizations have confirmed their attendance. In his opinion, the final number of guests will be announced in the beginning of May.

A number of politicians have rejected Russia's invitation, including the Presidents of Bulgaria, Poland, Finland, Israel, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.

Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel will be arriving in Moscow on May 10. Her and Russian President Vladimir Putin will be honoring the monument of the unknown soldiers in the Russian capital with a memorial wreath.
