The arrests of three Jihadists in Bulgaria at the end of 2014 have prevented a planned terrorist attack of Islamic State (IS) in Spain.

IS planned to abduct a local Spanish citizen, dress him in orange overall,  record a video of his "interrogation" and behead him in front of the camera, daily Sega reports.

The prosecution to Spain's specialised court Audiencia Nacional has accused eleven members of a Jihadist cell for participation in the plot.

The cell was busted on April 8 in Catalonia, but the operation had started after the arrest of three youths in Bulgaria on 15 December 2014.

The youths were arrested at the border with Turkey, when they were attempting to cross it on their way to Syria, where they intended to join IS.

The arrests in Bulgaria laid the foundations for the operation, which ended with the busting of the cell.

The operation, which bore the code name Hades, was under the direct supervision of the top judge of the Audiencia Nacional.

 The three youths, two citizens of Morocco and one Brazilian, were detained by the State Agency for National Security (DANS) on the request of Spain, where they had been charged with allegiance to a terrorist group.

They aimed to pass through Bulgaria into Turkey in order to participate in military activities in Syria.

The three youths, who traveled from Spain to Bulgaria on a sport  utility vehicle were detained, when attempting to cross the border at the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint.

After their arrests, they were handed to the police and the Haskovo district court ordered their extradition to Spain in January.

The Spanish specialised prosecution and court have obtained evidences that the Jihadist cell, to which the three youths belong, planned more than one terrorist attack on Spanish territory.

The cell, which styled itself as Islamic brotherhood for the preaching of Jihad, studied different public and private buildings, such as the Parliament of Catalonia, departments of the Catalan police in Barcelona and Sabadell and a hotel.

Wire-tapping of telephone conversations between the eleven Jihadists uncovered that they planned to abduct a director of a financial institution, demand a ransom and fund their "project" through it.

The cell decided to carry out terrorist attacks in Spain after it failed in its attempt to send militants in Syria and Iraq.

The police found hand grenade, different firearms including military rifles, considerable amount of ammunition, fifteen knifes of large size and a machete at the houses of the Jihadists in Catalonia.

There were also handwritten notes on preparing bombs in domestic conditions.

According to a protected witness, one of the plans of the Jihadists included the planting of a bomb at a Jewish library in Barcelona.
