The outgoing 2015 winter season brought an increase by 9.2% in the number of tourists in Bulgarian winter resorts, according to Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova.

Citing statistics provided by resorts and by a unit of the Tourism Ministry, Angelkova explained in a Monday interview for the Bulgarian National Television that the number of tourists had increased by 80 000 from the same period of 2014.

She noted that the number of Turkish tourists in particular had gone up by as much as 30%.

Angelkova informed that visitors from Turkey also showed great interest in balneology and SPA resorts in Bulgaria.

She vowed that Bulgaria’s national tourism campaign in 2016 would focus more on key markets for the country.
