Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov expressed condolences to the families of the victims, who were killed in the Germanwings airplane crash over the French Alps on Tuesday.

Borisov was shocked to learn about the heavy incident, which claimed the lives of 150 people, the government's press service reports.

Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev also expressed his in condolence letters to the King of Spain Felipe VI and German President Joachim Gauck as most of the victims were German and Spanish citizens. 

The plane was conducting a flight from Barcelona to Dusseldorf when it went down between Digne and Barcelonnette.

The Airbus A320, which had 144 passengers and six crew members on board, crashed after an eight-minute descent.


The causes of the crash remain unclear and similarly it has not been clarified whether flight 4U 9525 issued a distress signal.

Terrorism has been dismissed as a possible cause of the crash.
