The House of Representatives in Washington has adopted a non-binding resolution urging US President Barack Obama to provide Ukraine with weapons.

An overwhelming majority (348-48) of both Republicans (dominating Congress's both chambers) and Democrats are behind the initiative, calling on the move as a measure to help Kiev defend itself against what they call "Russian aggression".

The Obama administration has already delivered non-lethal equipment worth USD 75 M following reports of violations to the Minsk agreement between Kiev and pro-Russia separatists which was signed in February.

"Without action from this administration, Russia's aggression will continue to be left unchecked," ABC News quotes House Speaker John Boehner as saying.

A few days earlier NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe Gen Philip Breedlove urged Western allies to consider "all options" to help Kiev.
