New data from the National Statistical Institute (NSI) sheds light on the housing landscape in Bulgaria, painting a picture of the majority of Bulgarians residing in older homes.
Bulgaria's Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev revealed that intensive work was being carried out on a completely new legislation on public procurement.
Donchev expressed hope that the new legislation will be completed by the end of the year, so that it can enter into force on 1 January 2016, daily Dnevnik reports.
The Deputy PM said that the deadline for the transposition of new EU directives was until the spring of 2016, but the aim was to achieve this earlier.
During his summary of the month of political consultations on Thursday, Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev listed the new public procurement law as one of the needed reforms.
As regards the law on EU funds, which was also featured in Plevneliev's statement, Donchev reminded that he had personally initiated it back in 2012.
He revealed that intensive efforts were being put on finalising the text and expressed hope that the document will be tabled at parliament before the middle of the year.
