Bulgaria will be able to invest over EUR 2 B in the modernization of agricultural holdings and the development of rural areas by 2020, according to Agriculture Minister Desislava Taneva.

Speaking Thursday in Plovdiv at a seminar titled “Innovations and Agriculture in Israel”, Taneva noted that Israel could be an example to Bulgaria as regards the application of an innovative approach in agriculture.

She also suggested that Bulgaria could take advantage of Israel’s experience in the sector.

Taneva, as cited by money.bg, insisted that Bulgaria had extraordinary opportunities to develop competitive agriculture.
She noted that over EUR 1 B would be invested in the improvement of private agricultural holdings.

Taneva informed that the first measure under the 2014-2020 Rural Development Program, “Measure 4.1 Investments in Agricultural Holdings”, would be launched in early April.
