Serbian military helicopter carrying seven people on board crashed near Belgrade while evacuating a sick baby from southern Serbia.

Serbia's Defence Ministry did not immediately disclose whether anyone survived the crash, which occurred late on Friday near Belgrade's international airport, ABC news reports.

According to Serbian state TV, the MI-17 helicopter was carrying four crew members, two medical workers and a five-day-old baby with life-threatening respiratory problems.

The accident occurred in foggy weather and several commercial flights had to be rerouted due to poor visibility.
