The Administrative Court Sofia City has suspended the implementation of the license withdrawal of Ruse-based military plant Dunarit.
The court announced the decision on Friday without presenting motives, according to reports of Sega daily.
The suspension of the implementation of the license withdrawal does not take effect immediately because the Interministerial Council on Defense Industry and Security of Supply, the author of the decision, can appeal it at the Supreme Administrative Court (VAS).
The Administrative Court Sofia City is yet to come up with a pronouncement on the substance of the case over the license withdrawal.
Arms and ammunition manufacturer Dunarit had two licenses withdrawn a week ago at the proposal of Economy Minister Bozhidar Lukarski and then-Chair of the State Agency for National Security (DANS) Vladimir Pisanchev.
One of the permits involves export, import, and transfer of weapons, while the other one is for brokering of weapons.
The license withdrawal called into question the jobs of the 600 people working at the plant.
Lukarski said that the license of the company had been suspended for a period of 4 months over an objective threat to the economic and financial stability of the country.
At the same time, Dunarit CEO Krastyo Krastev claimed that the company had not had debts for the past 10 years and had even managed an annual profit of BGN 34-35 M.
Lukarski insisted that the license withdrawal had been triggered by alerts by the services based on classified information that could not be disclosed to the media.
On Friday, Dunarit workers staged a peaceful protest over the license withdrawal near the Danube Bridge border crossing point.
