Bulgarian Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov and his Serbian counterpart Ivica Dacic discussed Friday in Belgrade issues of mutual interest related to the implementation of joint energy and transport projects and opportunities for expanding economic cooperation.

Mitov and Dacic agreed that a joint sitting of the governments of Bulgaria and Serbia had to be held by end-2015.

The two foreign ministers exchanged views on proposals for solving the problems of Bulgarians in Serbia, focusing on the sphere of education and mother tongue media.

Dacic acquainted Mitov with the priority tasks of the Serbian government for the 2015 Serbian Chairmanship of OSCE, including the achievement of progress in bringing the conflict in Ukraine under control and ensuring enhanced stability and security in the Western Balkans, according to reports of the BGNES news agency.

Mitov confirmed Bulgaria’s support for Serbia for these goals.

He said that Bulgaria believed that the implementation of the Minsk agreement would help find a peaceful solution to the crisis in Ukraine.

Bulgaria’s Foreign Minister emphasized the EU’s readiness of the EU to help increase the capacity and the staff of the OSCE mission in Eastern Ukraine.

Mitov suggested that EU integration provided a historical chance to turn the Balkans into a region characterized by security and real opportunities and prospects for sustainable economic development.

He also assured that Bulgaria would keep backing Serbia’s efforts to join the EU.
