Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis hinted at the possible holding of referendum or early election in case the Eurozone rejects the country's debt renegotiation plans.

Varoufakis said this in an interview for Italian daily Corriere della Sera on Sunday, daily Kathimerini reports.

The Greek government reached a temporary agreement with its creditors last month and Greece has until the end of April to specify the reforms it will undertake in exchange for further aid.

The statement of Varoufakis comes ahead of the Eurozone finance ministers meeting on Monday at which Greece is to present the detailed plans of its debt and growth terms as well as promised reforms.

The Greek Finance Ministry clarified that a possible referendum will concern the content of reforms and fiscal policy.

Such a referendum will not feature a question on Greece's continued participation in the Eurozone, as most Greeks are willing to keep the Euro.

However two thirds of Greeks continue to support the government's tough stance to renegotiate the bailout package.

Greece is facing uncertainty over its cash position as it is experiencing a decline in tax revenues, while aid from international creditors has been suspended until Athens fulfills promised reforms.

Varoufakis assured that Greece has the money to pay pensions and public administration salaries and there was no need of new, third loan to pay its bills.

Last week Greece repaid the first installment worth EUR 310 M of its IMF loan, which is due until the end of March.
