Bulgaria: Snowstorms Claim Man's Life in Bosnia

Heavy snow which has left parts of Southeast Europe paralyzed took on Friday the life of a 53-year-old man buried by a landslide in the central part of the country.

The landslide was triggered by snowfall and rains which flooded Bosnia-Herzegovina in the past few days, the BalkanInsight website writes.

In some parts of the country, thousands have been left without electricity. Severe weather conditions are to last over the weekend, according to meteorologists.

Reportedly, a vast number of the landslides were triggered by the impact of floods that hit the country last year.

Bosnia-Herzegovina has been in a state of emergency for the last 24 hours.

In Eastern Serbia, floods have prompted the evacuation of hundreds of people, while in Montenegro rains have seriously disrupted traffic.

Storms have also hit Croatia's Adriatic coast, accompanied by gale-force winds at a speed reaching 165 km/h.

Snow has paralyzed parts of Bulgaria as well, cutting power lines and blocking roads across its southern regions.
