A Nevada resident who currently lives in Tsar Petrovo, a village near the Bulgarian town of Vidin, where she owns a property, has accidentally come across a dead body lying in the grass next to the main road.

Lucy Duivenvoorden was born in Nevada and holds an Austrian citizenship. She is currently residing in the Vidin village with her husband and daughter.

She called Novinite.com shocked by the sight. She stated that when she shared the horrendous story with the taxi driver, he dismissed it by saying that such things happen quite often in Bulgaria.

It all happened this morning when Lucy called a taxi and instead of waiting, she started walking along the road to meet it halfway. At a short distance before the crossing of the village road and the motorway to Vidin, she saw the dead body of a 30-35 year-old man, just lying in the bushes.

''His feet were partially eaten by jackals and his face was all covered in blood,'' Lucy said.

Asked to comment and give more information on the case, the Vidin Police has confirmed. The man is still unidentified and there was no evidence of violence upon him, police said.

The speaker of the municipal police directorate announced that a criminal investigation has been opened.

Note: The fifth paragraph originally began with "His feet were bound in shackles", but Ms Duivenvoorden later explained that was not what she had meant. The misunderstanding must have been caused by the very poor quality of the phone connection.
