A man is in critical condition after a mosque in the Black Sea city of Varna, Bulgaria burst into flames Friday morning.

It is not yet known why the mosque went ablaze, authorities suggest.

Firefighters managed to put out the flames on Friday morning, according to Focus News Agency.

The man injured is in charge of security at the mosque. Earlier reports suggested the religious temple's imam had been wounded.
