Prosecutors have demanded a ten-year sentence for Aleksandar Tomov, who owns the CSKA football club, in an embezzlement trial that started in 2008.
Tomov, along with three others, was charged that year over the transfer of EUR 5 M from the now-insolvent Kremikovtsi metalworking company (once Bulgaria's largest producer) to the CSKA football club. Prosecutors also believe some EUR 7 M have been diverted from the club after it drew a bank loan a few years ago, worth most of the money allegedly misused by the defendants.
The Sofia City Prosecutor's Office is expected to make a statement later on Monday.
