Bulgarian Economy Minister Bozhidar Lukarski is to present the economic priorities of the government for the development of the northwestern region of the country.

Lukarski will attend the opening of the Forum Northwest in the town of Montana on Monday, daily Dnevnik reports.

The participants in the forum will discuss the problems of the EU's poorest region and will lay the foundations for the preparation of a strategy for the economic recovery of northwestern Bulgaria.

The forum will also be attended by Deputy Prime Minister Meglena Kuneva and MPs from all political parties.

Lukarski will also meet business representatives, present opportunities for attracting investments to the region and participate in the presentation of Industrial Zone Vidin.

The Cabinet's governance programme foresees the construction of new and rehabilitation of existing infrastructure as well as the attraction of investments to the region.
