A faulty indicator is the most likely reason for the aircraft carrying Prime Minister Boyko Borisov to Brussels to have to return to Sofia Airport on Wednesday evening, presa.bg has reported.
According to preliminary results of the inspection of the aircraft’s systems, the left leg of the landing gear had retracted properly but a signalling device in the cockpit indicated otherwise.
With one electric light signal pointing to an up-locked position of the left leg of the undercarriage and another one indicating it’d been downed, the pilots were unable to find out what position the leg was in while the plane was airborne, and asked for permission to return to Sofia Airport.
Information from the flight data recorder of the aircraft has revealed no concrete reason for the malfunction on Friday, according to presa.bg. The plane has been thoroughly inspected but no technical deficiencies have been discovered and the landing gear retracted properly.
