Ukrainian Ambassador to Sofia Mykola Baltazhy warned on Saturday that the conflict ravaging his country could spill to neighbouring states, including Bulgaria.
In his words the conflict was not a civil war, but rather a war between Ukraine and Russia, Baltazhy explained in an interview for private bTV station.
His Excellency said that a possibility for the spreading of the conflict beyond the country existed, if Ukraine, the EU, the US and the world democratic community did not oppose Russian aggression.
According to him, real evidences existed proving Russian participation in the occupied regions, where Moscow had established eleven military formations.
Baltazhy stated that there was total violation of human rights in the occupied Crimean peninsula.
His Excellency revealed that the inhabitants of Crimea, who were not content with the Russian occupation were forced to leave the peninsula and migrate to continental Ukraine.
The Ukrainian diplomat accused Russia of annexing Crimea instead of addressing the problems in its own poor regions.
As regards the mobilisation of ethnic Bulgarians, Baltazhy said that all Ukrainian citizens are equal before the law.
In his words, mobilisation concerned all citizens and there was no discrimination on the basis of religion, ethnicity or any other principle.
Baltazhy assured that this was only a partial mobilisation, which had been approved by a decision of parliament and a presidential decree.
According to him, the diplomatic efforts provided the only possible way out of the crisis.
The Ukrainian diplomat called for ceasefire, withdrawal of Russian forces, exchange of prisoners of war and the holding of real elections.
