The foreign ministers of the 28 European Union (EU) member states are meeting in Brussels on Monday to discuss the increasing terrorist threat Europe is faced with.

The meeting comes after anti-terrorist raids were carried out in Belgium, Germany and France last week during which twenty people were arrested, the BBC reports.

The talks will also focus on the EU's relations with Russia in an attempt to resolve the divisions between member states in their response to Moscow's involvement in Ukraine.

The foreign ministers will discuss the return of radicalised Europeans, who had gone to fight in Iraq and Syria.

It is expected that no concrete decisions will be taken at the meeting, but preparations will be made for a special terrorism summit that is to take place next month.

Another meeting is scheduled to take place in London on Thursday, which will gather members of the international coalition fighting against Islamic State (IS).

It has been confirmed that US Secretary of State John Kerry will attend the meeting, which will discuss attempts at defeating IS.
