Bulgaria’s Consumer Prices Fall 0.9% Y/Y, Stay Flat M/M
Bulgaria’s consumer prices fell 0.9% year-on-year in December, the statistical office said on Wednesday.
Compared to November 2014, Bulgaria’s December consumer price index (CPI) was unchanged, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a statement.
The average annual average inflation for the 12 months of last year compared to the previous 12 months was negative at -1.4%.
The NSI reported year-on-year deflation for nine of last year 12 months with the exception of April, July and October.
In December, the EU-defined harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) rose 0.3% month-on-month but fell 2.0% year on year.
The HICP is the comparable measure of inflation across EU member states. It is one of the measures of price stability and Bulgaria’s readiness to join the eurozone.
