The Bulgarian National Assembly has unanimously voted in favor of a 30% salary increase for military personnel
In regard to the developments in France in the past week, Bulgarian Interior Minister Veselin Vuchkov assured there was no concrete threat against Bulgaria, but risks existed.
Vuchkov said that there has been no direct terrorist threat to Bulgaria recently, but despite this the country has taken measures following the latest terrorist attacks in France.
These measures are applicable mainly to the places, where a lot of people gather – railway and bus stations and airports.
The IntMin revealed that a meeting took place on Saturday with Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, at which the necessary measures were discussed.
At the meeting a case arising after the attacks in Paris was discussed, in which Bulgaria was involved in an international police cooperation with a positive outcome.
Both Borisov and Vuchkov refused to disclose any further details, but the Prime Minister praised the authorities for their work.
Vuchkov commented that it was possible for people who have grown up in Bulgaria to become terrorists, as was the case in France.
He said that it was necessary for each institution to work not only for itself, but to seek cooperation with its partners.
According to him, the current situation required the better guarding of the border and the integration of people who have been granted humanitarian status in Bulgaria.
Vuchkov stated that although the two issues were mutually related they required separation, as guarding the border concerned the security authorities, while integration involved the efforts of multitude of institutions for providing a long-term solution.
He concluded that it became evident that the problem with integration has not been solved in European countries where terrorist attacks have taken place.
