The application for EU funds under six schemes under which nearly BGN 428 M could be allocated to Bulgarian education will start on January 15.
This has been recorded in the indicative annual work programme for the allocation of EU funds under the Science and Education for Smart Growth Operational Programme, daily Sega reports.
It is anticipated that most of the funds will be allocated under the Education and Lifelong Learning axis.
The Ministry of Education and Science, which is the beneficiary, can be granted BGN 275 M for the development of pupils' abilities and raising their motivation for learning.
The Ministry has to select schools and organise activities, including during the holidays, that are to develop the knowledge and skills of pupils in the fields of science, arts and sport.
Such activities could include the organisation of inter-school and national performances of pupils, the participation in local and national feasts, the development of specific school programmes.
Funds under these scheme can also be allocated for the creation of a mechanism on diagnosing educational deficit among pupils as well as a model for public monitoring with the participation of parents.
The application for funds under this scheme has to take place between mid-January and mid-March.
The same time frame applies for the introduction of credits in the system of professional education, under which BGN 3 M can be allocated.
Another BGN 60 M are foreseen for student practices, which provide practical experience for students at certain stage of their education.
The application for the development of the system of career orientation in school education, which has a budget of BGN 10 M, also begins on January 15.
The allocation of funds is foreseen for the creation of a model to support the career realisation of secondary education graduates and the career orientation of potential early school leavers and those with special educational needs.
On the same date commences the application for funds under several other schemes.
BGN 25 M can be granted for the creation of supportive environment in kindergartens and schools for the achievement of inclusive education, while another BGN 55 M can be allocated for increasing the administrative capacity of the beneficiaries.
The Ministry of Education and Science can be granted BGN 20 M for improving the literacy of adults.
BGN 39 M can be allocated for student scholarships, another BGN 10 M are foreseen for the recruitment of young pedagogues.
