North Korea is unlikely to have any "physical reaction" to the release of The Interview, a controversially perceived comedy about a fictional plot to assassinate leader Kim Jong-un.

Days ahead of its official opening The Interview turned out to be at the center of a US-North Korea row due to a cyber attack that intially prompted Sony Pictures to postpone the event it had scheduled for December 25.

According to a North Korean diplomat to the United Nationals, the release will only draw Pyongyang's condemnation.

Despite calling the film an "unpardonable mockery of our sovereignty and dignity of the supreme leader," Kim Song also maintains his country could "prove" it has no relation to the cyber attack, the Washington Post quotes him as saying.

Earlier, North Korea had called the movie "an act of war".

The US believes North Korea is behind the attack.

Hackers from the "Guardians of Peace" group who attacked Sony Pictures had threatened those choosing to attend the public showing with "a bitter fate" and had vowed to carry out a terror attack on cinemas that screened the film.
