The latest Eurobarometer shows that 51 % of Bulgarians have a positive image of the European Union (EU).

In this respect Bulgaria ranks high compared to the 28 member states, sharing fourth place with Luxembourg, preceded only by Poland, Romania and Ireland.

The countries where majorities of the population have negative image of the EU are Greece, Cyprus and Austria.

The majority of Europeans – 39 % have a positive image of the EU, which is an increase of 4 % compared to the spring of 2014.

The 2014 autumn survey was conducted shortly after the approval of the new European Commission in late October.

The previous survey took place immediately after the European Parliament elections in late May, recording an increased optimism about economic indicators, support for the EU, and the belief of Europeans that their voice mattered.

The autumn Eurobarometer shows that trust in the EU has increased with 6 % from its spring value, now reaching 37 %.

The number of Europeans who believe that their voice counts in the EU has decreased with 2 % compared to the spring, now reaching 40 %.

The number of Europeans who are optimistic about the EU's future remains unchanged from the spring – 56 %.

The majority of Europeans - 56 % are in favour of an economic and monetary union with a single currency the Euro.

Bulgarians are much more divided on the issue, but now there is slight majority (45 % to 42 %) who are in favour of the Euro.
