Workers at the Cherno More mine, based in the Bulgarian city of Burgas, will get their October salaries as well as advanced payment for November, a major trade union says.

Thirty-three night-shift miners went on strike early on Wednesday refusing to go out of the pit after their worktime was over.

According to the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB), one of the leading labor organizations, the heating utility Toplofikatsiya Sliven (Sliven is a town in Southeast Bulgaria) is ready to transfer the delayed payments, Darik Radio reports.

CITUB also claims each worker is to have advanced payment of BGN 550 M which can be secured out the a 360 000 BGN is to give to the Cherno More mine.

Miners have described the delay of salaries ahead of Christmas and the New Year.

The Podkrepa Labor Confederation (KT Podkrepa) had distanced itself from the strike action, saying "one cannot stage protests over every salary."

Wednesday's strike was the second held at the mine in the past three months. Workers there also protested in September over not having received salaries in July and August.

Their strike however was extended into a second day, with two workers taken to hospital before the strike was over.
