Bulgaria: Caretaker Prime Minister Replaced Chairman of State Agency for National Security
The Chairman of the State Agency for National Security (DANS) Dimitar Georgiev was relieved of his post following a decision of the Council of Ministers.
Petko Sertov, a former Chairman of Bulgaria's State Agency for National Security (DANS), has been missing since Friday, officials say.
Interior Minister Veselin Vuchkov has confirmed the reports, announcing the former national security chief is being sought nationally since early on Saturday.
Vuchkov has refused to provide further details, saying police will have more information within a few days.
Sertov was last spotted in a VW Golf last week. Apparently he has left both his mobile phones at home, the Bulgarian National Television reports, adding he is being sought at the request of his wife.
The Interior Ministry has not officially confirmed the report.
Sertov was the first head of DANS after the agency was set up in 2008 out of previous structures.
He later took the Deputy Chairman's position at the controversially perceived Center for Prevention of Organized Crime and Corruption (BORKOR), the anti-corruption unit with Bulgaria's Council of Ministers, but was dismissed in 2011.
